Those who live the RV life understand that it is more than just a hobby - it’s a lifestyle! With our O’Connor RV dealership being located in Chilliwack, British Columbia, we are fortunate to have access to some of the best camping and outdoor adventuring in the world, and we love to hear from our happy clients about where their adventures take them each season. We’ve rounded up some of the coolest summer adventure stories from around British Columbia that truly embody just how special the RV lifestyle really is!

Hot Spring Hopping

If you set out onto the open road for a few days, it’s amazing how many hot springs you can find, especially in the Kootenays. Visitors from around the world come to British Columbia to go “hot spring hopping,” since there is such a high concentration of natural-fed hot springs dotting the landscape. Many of these areas are now developed and well-known, such as Radium and Harrison, but plenty of lesser-known hot springs are just waiting to be discovered hidden among the BC forests and mountains. We loved reading about this couple who took their trailer through the Kootenays and found Lussier Hot Springs in Whiteswan Lake National Park just last month! It is a humbling feeling to find a remote hot-spot (pun intended!), and bonus points for the memory of meeting fellow travellers along the way.

The Road to Alaska

For travellers both within Canada and from the USA, a road trip through British Columbia is a necessity if you are headed to Alaska; but simply doing a straight drive through BC is a huge loss when there is so much to see throughout our beautiful province along the way! We loved reading this blog post about the ultimate RV road trip adventure to Alaska, starting right from the Washington border. You’ll find all sorts of practical information about this lengthy (but lovely!) road trip, as well as personal anecdotes about some of BC’s must-see stops, such as Osoyoos, Kelowna, Kamloops, Hope, Prince George, and Liard River Corridor Park. This is a once-in-a-lifetime trip that we highly recommend to RV adventurists, and the O’Connor RV staff are happy to set you up with everything you’ll need to take on a road trip like this!

Living in a Hiker’s Paradise

From the popular Juan de Fuca and West Coast Trails on Vancouver Island, to Whistler, the Shuswaps and beyond, there is no shortage of unbelievable hiking throughout British Columbia. It’s possible to plan for some day-trip hikes, but there are also plenty of adventures that you can only experience by road tripping to an area and camping out nearby. This blogger shares her excitement for the Hiking the Rim Trail, in Cathedral Provincial Park, which she says is one of the best of all the accessible day hikes in BC. With soaring views, lakes galore, interesting rock formations, and plenty of wildlife viewing, this is some adventure hiking that we can get behind!

Bike Gang

One of the benefits of RV life is the ability to tow your toys, like a boat, snowmobile, or bicycle. If there is one biking adventure you should experience in British Columbia, this blogger highly recommends the Myra Canyon on the Kettle Valley Railway. The most popular stretch of the old railway is about 80km, and you can expect to bike across 18 trestle bridges and through 2 tunnels, all nestled high in the mountains. You’ll feel especially relieved to head back to your camper at the end of the day where you can refuel and rest for the night, rather than having to make a long trek back to a major city centre in the dark.

Here at O’Connor RV, we live for freedom and adventure. It’s why we do what we do, and why we are so passionate about helping our customers get into the RV of their dreams. But don’t forget that after you drive your camper, trailer, or fifth wheel off the lot, it doesn’t have to be goodbye; give us a shout-out on social media, send us an email, or swing by the dealership to tell us all about the adventures you’ve been on since adopting the RV lifestyle!
